How digital television works, and how to get the most out of it. This book is basic enough so that no previous background is needed. The most detailed chapters, however, provide enough detail to satisfy even a technically sophisticated audience. In accessible language, it describes how to upgrade an existing home entertainment system to digital television, how satellite and cable TV works, and it describes the core technologies involved. It also looks closely at the DVB and ATSC video protocols and how they are used in satellite, cable and over-the-air TV broadcasting. It even provides enough detail for the computer hobbyist or home theater specialist to get involved in building or modifying a digital video system of his or her own.
Randolf Arriola began playing guitar as a teenager when his uncle Claudio Arriola, drummer for Heritage, introduced him to the band’s highly revered guitarist Shah Tahir, who would become Randolf’s first musical inspiration and mentor. At the age of 15, Randolf bought his first guitar and taught himself how to play. Taking advice from his mentor, each month he diligently studied Guitar Player magazine cover to cover, studying the secrets of Intenational guitar heroes: Chet Atkins, Ritchie Blackmore, Larry Carlton, Eric Clapton, The Edge, Robert Smith, David Gilmour, Michael Hedges, Jimi Hendrix, Allan Holdsworth, Eric Johnson, Mark Knopfler, Pat Metheny, Jimmy Page, Brian Setzer, Andy Summers, Robert Fripp, and Eddie Van Halen among many other heroes in the vast musical styles of the Guitar world.
Through hours of daily practice over the years and a constant hunger to expand his knowledge, he absorbed an abundance of musical techniques of guitar playing and gained a wide understanding and knowledge of musical theory, modal systems, harmony structures, chords & scale formula, voicing substitution, and modern day tablature.

About my so called antiquated infotainment rig
Notes and commentary - If there is one great truth regarding vintage electronics is that If it ain't broken, you don't need to throw it out to buy the latest (state-of-the-art) equipment. The vintage equipment seen in this photo, is what I consider to be impeccable. The (pictured) 29" Mitsubishi Television that I purchased in 1988, still has a very sharp and brilliant color richness that made it one of the best (CRT) TV sets ever built. I was told that if I left the TV on all the time, the TV would last for thirty years or more . There is scientific truth to this. By constantly turning the TV on and off, the thermionic emission disruption from the electron gun within the (CRT) picture tube can cause the unit to prematurely fail, thus ensuring it's brief life span. So I left the TV on most of the time with the exception of a few moves and I put the TV in storage for a few years. My next (pictured) piece of vintage equipment is the Harman Kardon Festival II Model TA-260 integrated stereophonic receiver manufactured in 1960. The receiver is hooked up to a cable box and my media player (not seen in picture) that holds my music library. The original Harman Kardon Co. has become underrated and all but forgotten for their superior quality and innovations. Some restoration was need to bring it back up to spec, My test results exceeded the manufacturers documented test results. Complimenting the stereo is a pair of KLH model twenty loud speakers built in the early 60's before the KLH company sold out to the Singer sewing machine company, moving the speaker manufacturing operations to Japan. (pictured) on the bottom shelf is the prototype from a group of OTL vacuum tube headphones amps and preamps that I designed and constructed, and finally (pictured) is a fender princeton guitar combo amplifier which is a small wonder, hammering away with devastating 60+ peak watts. I usually leave the volume control below 1. Don't get me wrong or let me mislead you, these vintage vacuum tube devices can and will fail and brake down from time to time and need lots of TLC, unfortunately there are not many qualified service techs around these days that are versed in the proper repair and maintenance of these devices, which must be serviced periodically. I am very satisfied with my entertainment system and it has served me well. It is true that this kind of equipment consumes more energy than it's sold state counterparts.
